Our goal is to produce sustainable, humanely raised meat that is also superbly tasty and affordable for all families. We are a small family farm that believes in the importance of eating well and want to provide that opportunity for others.
We raise a limited amount of animals each year to ensure quality and to avoid overuse of our natural resources. Our hogs live 100% outdoor, enjoy green pasture all summer and cushy straw beds all winter. We believe that if you are going to eat an animal, you have the responsibility to provide the best life possible for that animal while it is with you.
We also believe in producing a higher quality meat that you can find in the supermarket. To that end, we raise heritage pork breeds known for their flavor. Unlike the pale, tasteless pork found in stores, our pork is rich red, marbled like a ribeye steak and incredibly tasty. The bacon from our pigs will blow your socks off. Once you go heritage pork, you never go back!
Well, that depends!
When you buy a whole hog from us, you are buying a live animal to be delivered to the meat locker (butcher) of your choice. Once it arrives there, you have a myriad of options.
On average, our butcher hogs will weigh between 225 to 250 pounds when we deliver them. After cuts are made, that equates to 110-130 pounds of meat to put in your freezer. You can do it as fresh, uncured meat, a mix of cured and uncured or all cured. Most folks do their hogs as a mix of fresh cuts, cured hams and bacon and of course, some sausage or bratwurst. We'll work with during every step of the process to ensure you get the cuts and curing that you and your family want!
Our butcher hogs are sold by the whole or half. You purchase the live animal directly from us, we deliver to the locker and there it will be processed into the cuts of your choice--you just have to pick up the final wrapped and cured cuts!
Our hogs are priced by the live weight, on a per pound basis. A whole butcher hog will be delivered to the locker at a weight of 225-250 pounds. It typically takes 6-7 months to bring a hog to full weight. For early orders and payment (buying when the pigs are 2-3 months old), we offer the discounts listed below. All hogs are sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Locker Processing Costs:
When your hog is delivered to the locker, you will then create a processing order with the locker. We will assist you in this process. Payment for processing will be made directly to the locker upon pickup of your final cuts. Typically the cost for processing a whole hog runs $126-$200 and half hogs from $60-$100, depending upon the amount of meat cured. At the end of the day, you should be able to fill your freezer with everything from cured hams to baby back ribs for less than $5/pound.
When possible, we also accept special orders for:
